When it is our birthday, we expect many gifts and a big party.
But the girl in this movie only gets a lotto bill and at that she is left all alone. But then she meets the little boy from the neighborhood and at last it will be a nice birthday anyway.
This movie speaks not only for Maori, in the whole world children are carelessly left at home by their parents. At least that is what the director, Reina Webster, says.
I liked the slight melancholy of the movie in particular.
